Hailing from the sun-soaked shores of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, TOKO have quickly grown into one of Australia’s most exciting reggae, island, and roots bands, bringing the spirit of the Pacific to the heart of the mainland.
Our Story
TOKO’s journey began in the early days of January 2025, when a call came through that would change everything. The request was simple: a band was needed for an event just a week away.
With no time to waste, I quickly reached out to the other two TOKO's to see if they were available. To our delight, they confirmed, and the dream began to take shape.
Our very first rehearsal was nothing short of magical. We met for the first time ever at Point Arkwright Trail in Coolum, high over the cliffs somewhere, as the sunshine and the ocean breeze filled the air. The chemistry was instant, and we knew something special was forming.
Our second rehearsal was 2 days later in Peregian Springs, a Thursday arvo session that solidified our sound and style as a group.
Then came the big day, Saturday, the day of our first ever performance. We were nervous and unsure, as the rain poured down, leaving us wondering if the event would even happen. But we stuck it out, waiting in anticipation, determined to make our debut. The crowd started off quiet, unsure of what to expect, but by the 2nd set of the performance, the energy had built, and it turned out to be a huge success, an unforgettable start for TOKO Music Official.
Fast forward just three weeks, and we had already opened the Kawana Night Markets and released our debut single. From humble beginnings to taking the stage in front of a growing fanbase, our journey has been one of passion, persistence, and a love for sharing our music with the world. The future is bright for TOKO.
